The African Mountain Bike Championships were held on 30 and 31 May 2026 at the Aghien site in Bingerville, near Abidjan. It was the first time Côte d'Ivoire had hosted them. Eleven nations took part: Algeria, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The elites
In the men's cross-country Olympic race, South Africans took the first four places. Luke Moir, who had won the short track the day before, beat Michael Foster and Luca Ruwiel. Because of the heat and humidity above 80%, the race was cut from seven laps to six. In the women's race, Zimbabwe's Stacey Hyslop won ahead of Mauritius's Aurélie Halbwachs-Lincoln and Nigeria's Sunday Mary Samuel.
Ivorian riders in the spotlight
In its first continental mountain bike championship, the Ivorian team won three medals and finished fifth in the nations' ranking. Estelle Yabré took silver in the under-23 women's cross-country Olympic race, and Ornella Todié won bronze in both the junior women's short track and cross-country Olympic races. Namibia dominated the junior categories.
