Meeting in an elective general assembly in Cairo on 16 February 2025, the African Cycling Confederation elected Côte d'Ivoire's Dr Yao Jean-Marie Allah-Kouamé, President of the Ivorian Cycling Federation, as its President.
The elective general assembly of the African Cycling Confederation was held on Sunday 16 February 2025 in Cairo, Egypt. Dr Yao Jean-Marie Allah-Kouamé won by 25 votes to 24 against the outgoing President, Egypt's Dr Mohamed Wagih Azzam, who had led the Confederation since 2005. One ballot was spoilt.
The new President knows the institution well: he served as its Secretary General, then as Vice-President. President of the Ivorian Cycling Federation since 2013, he is also First Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of Côte d'Ivoire.
"We are ready to take up the challenge and lead our sport towards new horizons," he said after his election (translated from French). He set three priorities: youth cycling, women's cycling, and more sub-regional and regional competitions.
As President of the CAC, he sits ex officio on the Management Committee of the Union Cycliste Internationale. Back in Abidjan, he was welcomed at Félix Houphouët-Boigny airport, then received by the Minister of Sports, Adjé Silas Metch.
